Where have all the cowboys gone?...

A live painting session is always so much fun.... As I have discussed in FINDING MODELS, it is not always easy to find a model who is able let alone prepared to sit for a live painting session.

Steven sat on a stool in my studio on in front of a screen. The background of this painting was an idea I had in mind when positioning Steven for the pose. He sat for about 2 hours which gave me time to get the light effect and contrast onto the figure. The whole painting was finished up in my studio with other reference and photographs.

The nice thing about having a live model is that if you are well prepared, you can sometimes get quite a few sketches in and with the use of well positioned lights, you can move the light source around to create different focal points on each sketch and ultimately each painting if you want to create paintings from the sketches.
